Do you want to play with the Nijmegen Student Orchestra?

Do you love to make music? Do you play an instrument? Then you're in the right place!

The Nijmegen Student Orchestra CMC is a symphony orchestra for all students who love playing music together. Perhaps you've watched us perform during one of our concerts. Two concerts are held at the end of each half year, in various lovely concert halls, such as Concertgebouw de Vereeniging at Keizer Karel Square. As a student association, we also organise many other fun activities for our members besides making music. We often have drinks after rehearsal, go on frequent outings, and every two years we go on tour.

Winter concert

On 10 December, the Nijmegen Student Orchestra will perform a beautiful winter concert at Concertgebouw De Vereeniging. The programme includes Khachaturian's intriguing Masquerade Suite, Arutiunian's rousing trumpet concerto with soloist Mechthild Drop, and Tchaikovsky's last symphony, nicknamed “Pathétique”.

The Masquerade Suite recounts the tragic story of Lord Arbenin and his wife Nina in three lively, dance-like movements. Arutiunian's trumpet concerto echoes Eastern European lyricism and Armenian textures, giving the piece a unique atmosphere. Tchaikovsky's Pathétique symphony has it all: compelling drama, lively playfulness, dancing waltzes and pure tragedy. Are you curious? Come and listen!

The orchestra

The Nijmegen Student Orchestra Collegium Musicum Carolinum is a symphony orchestra consisting mainly of students and alumni of Radboud University the HAN and the ROC.
