Committees

The Nijmegen Student Orchestra Collegium Musicum Carolinum has the following committees. The committees are responsible for a variety of affairs, ranging from organising fun activities for members to supporting the orchestra on an organisational and musical level. Below, you can find an overview of the committees and their responsibilities:

AcCie

The activity committee (AcCie) makes sure there are plenty of fun, non-music related activities throughout the year, so you can get to know your fellow orchestra members through and through. This committee is the perfect fit for people with loads of fun ideas, busybodies, go-getters, or people that meet absolutely none of these requirements!

AudiCie

The first committee that new members encounter is the audition committee (also called AudiCie). The AudiCie, consisting of the concertmaster, conductor, orchestra coordinator and a section leader (if necessary), decides who does and doesn’t get to be a member of the orchestra. Auditioning can be pretty stressful, but don’t be scared: the AudiCie is very sweet and gives clear feedback so you can keep on expanding your musical talents!

AcquisiCie

To keep the orchestra running smoothly, funding is essential. This can be achieved by selling tickets (handled by the PR Committee) but also by organizing musical work activities. The Acquisition Committee (or AcquisiCie for short) manages all requests for ensemble performances and work actions. If you suddenly get a message asking if you'd like to play in a small ensemble, it’s likely from someone in the AcquisiCie, working hard to raise funds for the orchestra!

Carolientje Committee

Every half year, the Carolientje Committee makes sure that there is a super fun member magazine made. This booklet is lovingly called the Carolientje (“little Caroline”). Oftentimes it contains reports, pictures, instrument horoscopes, and, the most popular section, quotes and did-you-knows! Heard someone say something funny? Quickly text it to one of the Carolientje members!

KasCo

The financial audit committee (KasCo) checks whether or not the reports made by the treasurer are accurately described and if the financial administration is done correctly. They basically function as a sort of aid and safety net for the treasurer. The KasCo advises the board about the settlement of the orchestra. You will definitely hear from them during the General Members Assembly!

PR-Cie

Are you a real influencer? Do you know exactly how Instagram works? Then the PR-committee is just right for you! This committee ensures we play in filled concert halls. The PR-Cie takes care of the website, posters, flyers, programme booklets, and happy posts on our social media channels.

SmulCie

During rehearsal days and weekends, your stomach needs filling. Luckily we have the SmulCie! This committee ensures that a few times a year, members can enjoy a lovely lunch (or dinner, or snack, or something else). Do you love cooking, preparing food or would you just like to join a committee that does not have many meetings? Then the SmulCie is something for you!

ProCie

As an orchestra, we need a repertoire. That’s why we have the programme committee! This committee consists of the conductor, orchestra coordinator, a brass player, a woodwind player, a high string player and a low string player. Every half year they assemble 2 programme suggestions which the orchestra can vote on. An important task, if you ask me. If you want to help the ProCie a little, you can share your ideas for potential repertoire in the form in the weekly member email.

WeekendCie

We go on a rehearsal weekend every half year. The WeekendCie is tasked with ensuring that this weekend runs as smoothly as possible. They are responsible for organising a fun Saturday night activity, making coffee and tea (with cookies, of course) in between rehearsals, and the safe transportation of instruments.
