Do an audition

Prior to membership, you will do an audition. The next auditions will be in January 2025.

We definitely have spots for permanent members in the following sections:

  • Viola
  • Violin
  • Double Bass
  • Cello
  • Bassoon
  • Trumpet
  • Percussion

Possibly other instruments and the audition excerpts will be provided later.

What do you need to prepare?

Your audition will last approximately 10 minutes and will consist of an audition excerpt and a solo piece. The audition committee will include the orchestra leader, the conductor (Pim Cuijpers), the concertmaster, and possibly a fourth member. 

You can download the audition excerpts above. The excerpts are selected from various parts of the program we will be playing in the upcoming half year. It often helps to listen to the relevant excerpts.

In addition to the audition excerpt, we ask you to play a (portion of a) solo piece lasting about 3-5 minutes. Preferably, this should be a work that contrasts with the audition excerpt.

Wat houdt een projectplek in?

Niet alle stukken hebben dezelfde bezetting, en soms speelt een lid een half jaar niet mee. Voor zulke gevallen hebben we projectplekken.  Dit houdt in dat je aangenomen wordt voor één project, dus een half jaar. In dat half jaar ben je volwaardig lid, en mag je meedoen aan alle repetities en activiteiten van het orkest. Na dit halve jaar zit jouw lidmaatschap er helaas weer op, omdat je instrument dan niet meer in de bezetting van het orkest past.

Concertmeester- en aanvoerdersauditie

Voor een auditie voor een aanvoerdersplek of concertmeester bereid je een reguliere auditie voor, waarbij je aangeeft dat je interesse hebt voor de desbetreffende positie. 

In het geval van de auditie voor de positie van concertmeester is de reguliere auditiecommissie uitgebreid met de strijkersaanvoerders.
