Audition
Prior to obtaining membership, you will have to audition. The next auditions will be on the 14th of September 2025.
We have spots available for permanent members in the following sections:
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Double Bass
- Bassoon
- Flute
- Horn
- Trombone
- Trumpet
- Percussion
We have space for project members on:
- Flute/piccolo
- Tuba
What do you need to prepare?
Your audition will last approximately 10 minutes and will consist of an audition excerpt and a solo piece. The audition committee will include the orchestra leader, the conductor (Pim Cuijpers), the concertmaster, and possibly a fourth member.
You can download the audition excerpts above. The excerpts are selected from various parts of the program we will be playing in the upcoming half year. It often helps to listen to the relevant excerpts.
In addition to the audition excerpt, we ask you to play a (portion of a) solo piece lasting about 3-5 minutes. Preferably, this should be a work that contrasts with the audition excerpt.

What is a project position?
Not all pieces have the same instrumentation, and sometimes a member may not play for an entire semester. For these situations, we have project positions. This means you are accepted for one project, lasting one semester. During that semester, you are a full member and can participate in all rehearsals and activities of the orchestra. Unfortunately, after this semester, your membership ends because your instrument is no longer part of the orchestra's instrumentation.
